Gen. 6-3 “My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.”
So even before the giants are mentioned or the mighty men of renown , God has already determined to judge “mankind” for doing that which displeased Him. So such so, even to the point where His Spirit could no longer strive with them. And God is vindicated for His decision to number the days of mankind, who were upon the earth then. “GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” So God limited the days of man living on the earth then to 120 years that they should repent during this time. He even sent a preacher of righteousness to turn them away from their wicked ways. During this time Noah, who found grace in the eyes of the LORD, to build the ark also. God flooded the whole earth, and began again through the seed of Noah.
