The Triune Godhead-Updated

Doctrine of the Triune Godhead (updated)

Satan through various cults seeks to distort the very essence of God Himself that reveals to us in scripture His nature. The word of God will shut the door on these false doctrines.

All the members of the Oxford Committee in the 1870s were Unitarians. WestCott & Hort both wrote of their hatred and bitterness against the Trinity and the Divinity of Christ, and vowed the new age bibles would remove them….

“Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.” Isaiah 48:16

How many persons are in that verse? Three. It is clear that it is the person of Jesus speaking here.

“We define that there are two, the Father and the Son, and three with the Holy Spirit and this

The God head consists of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, its one God/Authority in three persons. The three persons of the Godhead are each fully God, and exist eternally at the same time, noted in various scriptures even in the OT, such as Isaiah 48:16:….They are in the generic form refereed to individually as “he”,”him”, “his”, “himself” in the NT. The word “he” and its derivatives thereof can only be applied to a person, an individual being having a conscience.

Unity (One God in unchanging principles and authority)/Tri-Unity of the Godhead (Three Persons) – This is God/Authority.

“I have not spoken {the Word} in secret from the beginning; From the time that it was, there am I; and now the Lord God {the Father}, and his Spirit {the Holy Ghost}, hath sent me.”

The Lord God “the Father”, and His Spirit “the Holy Ghost” sent the “I AM”, “the Word”, the logos, the eternal Son. God is 100% logical. The three persons of the Godhead cannot do anything illogical therefore they are one in sound reasoning. All three person are love, therefore they are one/united in love. God was love long before the creation and love can only be manifest by way of two or more persons. Same with righteousness. In other words there has been a covenant relationship between the three persons of the Godhead from eternity past. This is based on commitment via love. This is why God cannot lie, not because He is not capable, and has no freewill choices, but rather because of the strength of the commitment therein. Or as Solomon said in reference to men/women of God; that a three fold cord is not easily broken.

The understanding of the one true God as opposed to the multiple gods of the pagans, (polytheism) is what God reveals of Himself (and what we can understand). Since God is God and we are not, we as finite beings should not be surprised that the fullness of His nature is beyond mans’ understanding.

Here is a list of scripture where Paul mentions all three Persons of the Trinity in close proximity:

Romans 1:1-4; 5:1-5; 6:4-6; 8:16-17; 14:17-18; 15:16, 30; 1 Corinthians 2:1-5; 12:4-6; 2 Corinthians 3:3-6; 13:14; Galatians 4:4-6; Ephesians 2:13–22; 4:4-6, 30-32; 5:18-20; 1 Thessalonians 1:2-5; 4:2-7; 2 Thessalonians 2:13–15; Titus 3:4-7

the Trinity is a way of summarizing teachings found spread throughout Scripture. The deity of Christ is not a ‘purely academic question’–if Jesus is not God incarnate, He cannot be our Saviour. And we can be called the adopted brethren of Christ because we gain access to God through Him, but that does not entail gaining deity……. Lita Cosner

The express image of the Father. When Jesus came and dwelt among us God Almighty was revealing more of Himself than ever before. Being made in every way the same as mankind, Jesus is the form of God to which we are best suited to understand, thus to know and understand the nature of God can be done by getting to know what can be known of Jesus. Jesus is the fullness of God in bodily form. Colossians. 2:9

These three are “one” 1 John 5-7. The three persons of the Godhead are “ONE” God/Authority and Might. It means that they are one in unity, authority, righteousness, and love, logic and reasoning and principles. (the father and I are one said Jesus) He prayed for the disciples to be “one ” with Them also. Not one as little gods, but one in covenant with Them…

The scripture speaks specifically of a truth that there is only one God. If each Person of the Trinity is distinct and still each is fully God, yet the scripture is quite clear as to the fact that there is only one God. Isaiah 45:21, “Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? Who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else”….. Deuteronomy 4:35 “Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him”. Samuel 2:2 “There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God”…… Deut. 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are members of one Devine Authority of Might (the Godhead), the (Almighty).  They are equal in authority through the Unity of Divine Principles that changes not. “I AM the Lord thy God and I change not” …….Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever”

One GOD BEING, who essence exists in THREE PERSONS. Jesus is one person of the one Godhead, the Father is another, the Spirit is the third. It is a tri-unity, or 3 fold cord of loving strength that is unbreakable.
Example of the three fold cord concerning the salvation of man,
1. Salvation is attained by coming unto the Father (John 14:6)
2. The way to salvation is through the Son (John 14:6)
3. The agent of salvation – the one who draws us and regenerates us is the Holy Spirit (John 16:7-15, Titus 3:5)
Our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus commanded us, The FIRST and foremost of ALL the commandments is this: Mark 12- 29 “And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord”: quoting from Deut. 6-4.
This is the verse in 1 John 5-7 that non-Trinitarian apostates West-Cott & Hort of whom believed not the Trinity, they removed the word Godhead as well as the last 16 words in 1 John 5-7 from the text in the post 1880 & new-age copy-write text. They openly declared to destroy both the Divinity of Christ, and the Trinity in their precursor writings concerning their reasons for the new versions of the text based upon Tishendorf’s phony Sainaticus manuscripts. All were Unitarians that were in that committee, including James Strong, of whom had an ambition 20 years prior to write his commentary to correct the KJB. They were not shy about their intentions, and the diminishing of Christ. They were lacking only one thing up until 1859 before they could proceed with the committee at Oxford in 1871. That was another manuscript to help support the Catholic Greek text known as the Codex Vaticanus 1209,
manuscripts. This is why Fenton Hort said “he was sure that Tishendorf would supply them with rich new material” that they might proceed forward in their mission.

The KJB lifts the Deity of Christ to the highest level of any known English book ever in existence. They absolutely hated this fact. Note: Tyndale’s translation was most excellent indeed, and probably the least politically correct by not using the Roman Catholic terms “Church” and “Charity”, which were ordered upon the KJB scholars to put in use by King James in their translation. The first time the word “Church” was used in an English translation was in the Geneva bible in 1560, prior to that Tyndale’s translation of the ecclesia was called the “congregation” and was used in the previous other bibles before the Geneva. I will say this: that at least the KJB scholars did not capitalize the word “church” like they did in the Geneva bible. They rightfully left it to be a generic term, rather than a proper noun.

Tyndale refused to use the word “church” because it was from the Greek goddess Circe, Kirke in the Greek text, (the circle goddess), and he knew it meant where the pagans go to worship their false gods. However he did use the word “church” twice in his translation. Both times describing the Gentiles pagan Temples of worship.

I think it is important to know the difference between Jesus the flesh and blood man, and Christ (Anointed One of God). The anointed One of God is God’s Living Word=seed of promise=Christ. Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, fully man and fully God in ONE PERSON. All of His miracles were done via a man, (ie the Son of man) operating through the power of the Spirit, (ie grace), and not via His own power as Deity. It would have had no meaning if He used His own powers as God to overcome Satan. Thus Satan, according to the rules of engagement, would have shouted “foul”. Therefore Jesus had to overcome the flesh, the world, and the Devil, by the means of a mere mortal man. Thus having divested Himself of His Godhead powers, and making Himself of no reputation, and took on the flesh of mankind, so that He could be made as we are, and be tempted as we are. Which reminds me of a very wise saying by Milton Green, Jesus was of no reputation, so how are we goona get one. The prophesies foretold of Christ in the OT, such as Isiah 53, would declare His victory. Why?
Because even though he divested Himself of all powers, His character and principals remained the same from eternity past. It was all about His commitment within the Trinity, and devotion to mankind that he was victorious, and justified the Fathers mercy, in that His blood and works could now be the apparatus in which man could be reconciled back to God through the baptism of repentance. That’s why John, the water baptizer, said his baptism was inferior, but a Mightier One than he will come and baptize with the Holy Ghost and the fire of tribulation.

Jesus will forever be in a human body, but His  flesh and blood does not physically dwell in the believer. Notwithstanding,  Christ the Living Word of God and seed of promise does dwell in us  by His Spirit. It is the Spirit that Unites into One, God the Father, His Word, and His Spirit. Just as we are One in them by the same Spirit of God. This is what Jesus prayed for in the garden in John 17, that we be made one with Him and the Father. The great mystery of Godliness is that the Father dwells in us is through the Holy Spirit. Yet the Father is spirit, and Jesus is spirit, but the Holy Spirit is neither Jesus, nor the Father. Note: the whole world is on fire. The fire is he word of God. It is two fold, in that it either purifies the righteous, or it consumes the wicked in the lake of fire.

Jesus said they could see/recognize the authority of the Father because He spoke the Father’s words. What made them able to recognize this? It was the Holy Spirit via revelation. Jesus even said that Peter recognized Him to be the Christ/Anointed one because the Father revealed it to him.. What method did the Father use to reveal this truth? By way of the Holy Spirit. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

1 John 5-7 is the most descriptive and simplest verse in the text describing the trinity so that a babe in Christ can even know. It’s obvious why the Unitarians on the Westcott/Hort committee had to remove 17 words from this verse. It is of a truth that God is love (1 John 4:8). Can God who is perfect be minus anything? No….Does a relationship of love require more than one person? Yes… The NT bears witness to and reveals in a multitude of places that each of the persons of the Triune Godhead lives for the other two; this eternal love is between the three persons of the Godhead, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. There even had to be 2 or more witness to the creation in Gen 1. Thus the three bear witness in heaven of the creation of all things in Gen. 1, as 1 John 5-7 says; “there are three that bear witness in heaven” And the The first council that is revealed to us in scripture is found in Geneses 1-26. the logic of scripture prevails in that the Unitarian false god would not have been able to bear witness to the creation, since he is only mad up of one person.

This is how a perfect God can be love, the three persons of the Godhead are and undivided complete oneness. ie “the lord your God is one”For it is Satan’s’ house that is divided and thus is not of love. The individual person of each member of the Trinity equates that each person having a distinct center of consciousness, and a Person of his own will yet unified in purpose. These three persons interact with each other personally. Let us look at the person of the Father for example; He speaks of Himself as (I), while He intern addresses the Son and the Holy Spirit as (He), likewise does the Son speak of Himself as (I), but speaks to the Father and the Holy Spirit as (thee-thou-He and Him). The Triune Godhead is a truth that is impossible for any man to fully understand, let alone explain in human terms. But on a side note, we can see the creation was brought forth in a triune nature. Our very existence is that of spirit, soul, and body. Our body is made up of flesh, blood, and bone. Our bodies covering is made up of skin, nails, and hair. The physical universe is made up of the sun, the moon, and the stars. Water exists in three forms, liquid, vapor, and ice. The nature of the measurements of space is three dimensional, that being height, width, and depth. The nature of the measurements of time are past, present, and future. The three elements of our earthly home are made up of land, water, and air. And there is the earth, the heavens/sky, and the outer heavens….These are but a very few of many, many things that are triune in nature. The Godhead isn’t native to this creation, and I don’t think anyone so far has found an analogy for it in the created world,

Several times in OT scripture, God refers to himself as US, to me this indicates more than One person/personality makes up who we know as Godhead described further in detail in the NT.

The scriptures teach us that all three persons of the Godhead are God. In order to be God one must be fully God. God cannot be part God. This aroused their anger even more John:5-17 “But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God”. The Jews did understand that one cannot be equal to God if one is not God. Thus; the text declares that the Father is God, Jesus Christ is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God. So all three have to be fully God.

The term Godhead is THREE times in the text. 1) A reference to God the Father is found in Acts 17:29 “Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device”. 2) A reference to the person of the Godhead the Holy Spirit is found in Romans 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead;” so that they are without excuse: 3) a reference to Christ Jesus the Messiah, Colossians 2-9 “In Him dwelt the fullness of the God head bodily”

We as believers can understand to a certain degree some of the facts about the relationship of these three different persons of the GODHEAD to one another, but it is impossible to comprehend with the human mind to beholden in the mind anything more than a small understanding of this truth. The existence of the Triune Godhead is most certainly found to be of a truth in the Holy Scriptures both in the NT & OT.

God the Father glorifies the Son. God the Son glorifies the Father. God the Holy Spirit glorifies the Son. They are not in competition, they are in perfect unity, love, authority, righteousness, and reason.

There have been many different failed attempts in times past to give three dimensional illustrations of the Triune Godhead. One most of the common is the illustration of the three components of water; as water being, ice, vapor, and liquid. Another one often used to describe this in the temporal realm is the ocean, with waves, ocean water, and ocean air, another being an egg, having a shell, egg yolk, and egg white, but these 3D explanations are lacking because it expresses that there would then be three different parts to God, which is not true, because each person of the Godhead is fully God. It is of a truth that the Son, the Word made flesh who dwelt among them Christ Jesus is fully God. The egg yolk is not fully egg.

God the Father is fully God, and the Holy Spirit is fully God. There is nothing lacking in the Deity in any of these three persons. However we also know for a fact that there is only one God. It is impossible for the mind of man living in this 3D realm to comprehend this Triune nature of God. From the beginning in Geneses ch. 1 and forward, the bible declares God in this essence.

Another common error people have made in the past is to think that the Father somehow became the Son, who then became mysteriously, becomes the Holy Ghost, but scripture does not support this false doctrine. For the text implies that God always was, always is, and always will be. He is eternal. With mans limited and finite perspective it would be most vain and frivolous to even attempt to construct a 3D characterized and detailed examination of Gods’ omniscience (infinite web of knowledge: in that He knows all things that can POSSIBLY be known. Possibilities are not certainties, therefore the future is partly open to God), omnipotence (unlimited power pertaining to reason. God cannot lie, because to lie is illogical), omnipresence (present everywhere, even everlasting through time).Should we even try to comprehend this incredible Triune mystery with our finite mental abilities, we would either end up with nothing more than gnostic mystical distortions of the Godhead.

1 John 1-1″That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;”

This confirms what he said in his gospel in John 1:14. The WORD (which was God – 1:1) BECAME flesh.

Would this designation ever change? That is the mystery of the Trinity. Our Lord Jesus fulfilled the whole Law yet without sin (Matt.5:17). The Law says in Exodus 34:14, “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD (Yahweh), whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God (Elohim)” That means that if our Lord Jesus was NOT God He would not, and could not, allow men to worship Him without protesting. Paul told men no to worship him, likewise did Peter when they worshiped him,  Yet Jesus does not protest and is counted as having fulfilled the Law. He, at the same time takes His place as Yahweh, AND as a Man with a God the Father in heaven. Beautiful … but mysterious. “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory”. 1 Tim. 3-16

This study will only declare what scripture testifies to, and will not attempt to proceed any further than that, all else is vanity… All three persons of the Godhead are eternal and have always existed, and always will continue to exist. The Son proceeded from the Father, the Father is eternal, and thus the Son likewise must be eternal, there is eternity and creation only in the scriptures, nothing else. Even though the three persons of the Trinity are individually distinguishable, this does not mean that any of the three are lower in order, degree, or rank to the other. Notwithstanding, while Jesus walked the earth in His humanity as a servant who emptied Himself; He said the Father is greater than I.

All three alike in their Divine eternal characteristics. All three are of the same endless measure of eternal power, in love, mercy, grace, justice, perfection, holiness, righteousness, peace, patience, suffering, knowledge, logic/reasoning, and glory etc..

Many such as the JWs -false belief may say; If Jesus is God, then he must have prayed to himself while he was on earth. The answer being this; Yes; Jesus and the Father are both God/Authority, but they are different persons. Thus, Jesus prayed to God the Father, such as written in John chapter 17 without praying to Himself.

Concerning the Father and the Son; for instance, this exchange of conversation in prayer between the Father and the Son can be found as well in (Matthew 3:17; John 5:19; 11:41-42) these are a few accounts of which supply scriptural evidence that they are very much two different and distinguishable persons with two different centers of consciousness, of two distinct wills. I must also mention here that Jesus is fully God and fully man too. Putting all of this together and knowing how it works is much greater than the human mind can absorb. Man lives in a 3D world. All physical objects have a certain height, width, and depth. God, however, lives without the limited restraints of a 3D existence. He is Spirit. And he is infinitely more complex than we are. Now to add to that complexity, the “man” Jesus Christ now sits at the right hand of God in His resurrected body fully Divine as well.

God is love, and always has been love, even before the creation of the universe. Love cannot exist of one person, it must be two or more to form a covenant of love. Also 1 John 5-7 says there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one……meaning (of one in unity ). There is a record of the creation in the text in Gen chapter one. It requires more than one witness to bear record of such events . BUT there are infact 3 witnesses of the creation, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit……

In Luke ch. 3, and in Mark ch 1, at the baptismal anointing of Christ, of which the purpose was to make known to John the Baptist that this man Jesus was in fact the true Messiah. We see the Father speaking from heaven and the Spirit descending from heaven in the form of a dove as Jesus comes out of the water which identifies His fullness to John the baptist in Luke:3-22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. In the gospel of John in chapter 1 it affirms that Jesus is God, and at the same time, that He was God, and He was with God, establishing that the Word made flesh Jesus is a distinct person from God the Father. And in John 16:13-15 we see that although there is a Divine unity between all three of them, yet the Holy Spirit is also distinguishable from the Father and the Son.

The truth that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are three distinguishable persons expresses that the Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is not the Father. Jesus is God, but He is not the Father or the Holy Spirit, yet He contains the same attributes of the Holy Spirit and the Father within Him. The Person of the Holy Spirit is God, but He is not the Son or the Father, yet the Son and the Father are contained within Him. They are all three different Persons, and not three different ways of viewing God. Yet they make up One Godhead. They are three real persons, not three different roles that God plays. The believer has the indwelling with the Holy Spirit, and yet Jesus lives in the temple of the believer also. Very hard to wrap one’s mind around.

The biblical and basic understanding of the doctrine of the Triune Godhead, or Trinity is that that there is ONE God who is eternal and exists as three readily and very distinguishable Persons—these persons are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Another way of describing this is; God is one in being consisting of three persons. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are three distinct persons, each person is fully God, but it is most important to know of that there is still only ONE GODHEAD. The Son proceeded from the Father, thus He cannot be the same person as the Father. Likewise did the Son return to the Father in His glory. Both the Father and the Son sent the Comforter who is the Holy Ghost into the world; however the Holy Spirit must be, and is as scripture declares distinguishable in His identity from the Father and the Son.

God is a triune God. The doctrine of the Trinity is not a contradiction because God is not three in the same way that He is One. God is one in essence; It would be equivalent to 1x1x1=1. Three persons in one being, it would not be equivalent to, 1+1+1=3 God’s. (Tri) meaning three, and (Unity) meaning one, Tri+Unity or Triune Godhead aka Trinity. This is but a temporal way of expressing what scripture reveals to us about God.

Notice the plural pronouns “us” and “our” in Genesis 1:26 — Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness”. We also see this in Gen:3 -22 “Now man has become as one of us”….Gen. ch 10 “Let us go down and confound their language”. This is way beyond man’s understanding, and this is as far as we with human minds should venture, we can’t understand the Trinity, or explain it, just believe the scriptures are true. Scripture is not all of the revelation of God, but only the revelation of what God desires us to know.

The intrinsic or indispensable properties that serve to characterize the essence of God …Essence is what you are, an intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of something (attributes). An example of intrinsic nature is what is captured of someone’s unique character. The very peripheral details in one’s own unique characteristics; fundamentally it means the same thing as (being), thus the ONE God Jehovah’s essence is in-fact His very being. Although the three persons of the Godhead are of the same character but they are three unique and separate personalities. However, even this description is only of a finite and human understanding and is lacking.

“God is spirit” (John 4:24). So we clearly should not think of God as existing of anything other than a Divine Power. In regards to the Trinity, the term person is different than we generally use it in everyday life. Therefore it is often difficult to have an absolute definition of the term person as we use it in expressing the three Persons of the Triune Godhead. What is not meant by Person in regards to the Trinity is a separate independent persons, such as this example; both myself and another man are completely separate, and independent persons who can and does exist completely apart from one another. However this is not the case with the complete unity of the Triune Godhead. But what we do find in the description of the term person is something that regards himself as “I”, and others as “you”. thus establishing different wills. As is such expressed in many places in the NT. So the Father, is a different person from the Son because He refers to the Son as a “you”, even though He states Himself as “I” ..Therefore, in regards to the Triune Godhead, we can say that person means a distinct subject which regards Himself as an (I) and the other two persons as a (you/thou) These distinct subjects are most definitely not a division within the being of God, for there is no divisions in God. Nothing can be part God, it must be all God to be God, but these three rather are a form of a three personal existences in one, and not necessarily to be understood as three different in beings like we would think of in this 3D realm.

The Holy Spirit is referenced in scripture as the 1) Spirit of God, 2) the Spirit of Christ, 3) the Spirit of life, 4) the Spirit of truth, 5) the Spirit of grace, 6) the Spirit of promise, 7) the Comforter. Comparing scripture with scripture the seven Spirits in Revelation is also metaphoric for the Holy Spirit.

(The Comforter) the Holy Ghost, is a He in (John 14:26; 16:7-15; Acts 8:16). the fact that the Holy Spirit is a Person, The Holy Ghost (the Spirit of truth) also says he speaks not of himself in John ch. 16 and He speaks in Hebrews: 3-7 Wherefore as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice….His reasoning is expressed in Acts 15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; ….The Holy Spirit thinks and understands in 1 Corinthians 2: 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God… He wills, which is very descriptive of a person, a person must have a will in order to be a person 1 Corinthians 12: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will…. The Spirit also feels in Ephesians:4-30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption,…. and the Holy Ghost gives personal fellowship in 2 Corinthians :13-14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

The Holy Ghost is by no means without a person, or neither is He some strange form of electrical or gravitational force, but rather He is indeed God Himself. A seemingly so-called electrical force or super energy force, that some describe Him to be has none of these Personal quality’s or attributes regarded as a characteristic or inherent part of someone and would not be capable of love minus the existence of person hood…

He as God, the Holy Spirit can speak, he can anoint and send out members of the body of Christ, convince mankind of God’s truth found in the holy scriptures, reprove the world of sin, bring man’s awareness to the invisible God as it declares of His Godhead in Romans 1-20. He can bring to remembrance of all things Jesus spake. He can convict mankind of his lost spiritual condition; John: 16-8 Reprove the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.. By the pouring out of spiritual gifts, He can lead believers into all truth, and build the wall of Spiritual Jerusalem, aka the body of Christ. He can testify to their salvation, He is the Spirit of adoption and can adopt them as God’s spiritual children. He is the Comforter who can comfort them in their many trials and tribulations as we walk daily in the valley of the shadow of death. The Holy Spirit is God Himself, thus we can also lie to Him as Ananias and his wife Sapphira did in Acts ch. 5. We can extinguish His works in ourselves by limiting His desire to fulfill Himself in us (by quenching the Spirit in 1 Thessalonians 5:19) and by blaspheming against Him: As also did the Hebrew children limit the Holy One of Israel, Psalms 78-41.

Matthew 28:19:”Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”: First, notice that the Father, then the Son, and the Holy Spirit are distinguished as three different Persons. We baptize into the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Yet the apostle Peter tells us to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in Acts ch 2. HOWEVER, in Christ dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily. Scripture declares that each Person must be Deity because they are all placed on the same level as also described in 1 John: 5- 7. Meaning that each of the Persons into whose name we are to be baptized MUST be FULL Deity. So, Jesus Christ is Full Deity. Even though the three divine Persons are one essence while each having distinct personal identities, we are baptized into their name (singular), not names (plural), yet we are also baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in Acts 2-38 and Romans 6-3 thus meaning; in Christ dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily. This is way bigger than the human mind can contain. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

God being triune in nature also created the entire universe in a like manner. In-fact the triune matrix of God can be found in 1000s of verses in the bible…
The Holy Spirit is God

Isaiah 6:8Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.”

Hear Paul quotes from Isaiah 6-8

Acts 28:25And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Isaiah the prophet, Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”

Exodus 32:7And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people”

Acts 7:51 “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye”

Jeremiah 31:33 “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. “

Hebrews 10:15 “Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.”

2 Samuel 23:2 “The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. “

This is also a good Old Testament example of the Triune God Head; because most of the OT references to the Rock of Israel were speaking of Jesus Christ Himself.

Acts 5:3But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.”

Some of the Oneness Pentecostal arguments are that Jesus said He and the Father are one. This does not make them the same person. If you have seen the Me, you have seen the Father said Jesus.  Many places in the text use this same expression when two or more are united in principles and covenant. The apostle Paul said he and Apollos were one. Jesus said in the garden to make the congregation one in them just as He is one with the Father. Does this mean that the believers are all God beings now? Of course not, but rather it means they are united in one covenant with one accord and one set of principles through love…The congregation on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 says they were all of one. Adam and Eve were made one in the Garden of Eden. Does this mean they became the same person? No…The endless oneness arguments fail in the light of the full weight of the text…

Bruce Reeves in this debate gives a most excellent biblical account of the trinity

  1. Brothers,

    This is an interesting study.

    Tertullian wrote:

“We define that there are two, the Father and the Son, and three with the Holy Spirit and this number is made by the pattern of salvation… [which] brings about unity in trinity, interrelating the three, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are three, not in dignity, but equal, not in substance but in form, not in power but in kind. They are of one substance and power, because there is one God from whom theses, forms and kinds in the name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” (Adv. Prax. 23; PL 2.156-7).

    I see it more as:

“We define that there are two, the Father and the Son, and three with the Holy Spirit, interrelating the three energies, the Father – the foundation, the Son – eternally generated . and the Holy Spirit – eternally inspirated/breathed. These are three, not equal in divine order but equal in kind; equal not in substance but in essence. They are of one essence and power, because there is one God from whom these forms and kinds are energized as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit”

As I understand it, Augustine framed his view of God from his Greek philosophical education which taught divine simplicity, which is why Augustine was unable to grasp fully the triune idea, hence he came up with “created grace” which has morphed over time and reformation teaching into the “magic cover” soteriology prevalent in the denominations today.

  2. 1 John reveals that that Jesus is the parakletos, our advocate, our comforter. There is no biblical evidence that the Holy Spirit is an individual being and to teach such is a lie.

    • Greetings Kevin thanks for you comment

The bible is clear in that the Holy Ghost is a person, and not the same person as the Father, and not the same person as the Son, but however is God…The Holy Ghost IS God, but is not the Father and is not the Son. The Father IS God, but is not the Son and not the Holy Spirit. The Son is God, but is not the Father, and not the Holy Spirit…..The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit IS ONE GOD. That is ONE IN UNITY and principle, not one in persons…The Mystery of Godliness…….

      Acts 5
3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

Jesus said I will pray to the Father that He shall send to you ANOTHER Comforter…Implying someone (a persona) other than Jesus Himself. John 14-16

      1) Jesus Christ IS our Redeemer, 2) The person of the Holy Spirit IS the one that guides us to Christ. Christ is our propitiation (mercy seat of God), 3) that we should be reconciled back to the Father.

      Hope this helps……Bill

    • Do you believe that Jesus Christ come in the flesh?

its a yes or no answer.

1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

  3. Luk 6:25 Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

  4. Its not our doctrine. It is not your doctrine. It is the Doctrine of a Holy God.
We don’t glory in the knowledge of yourself, We give to the Glory of God thru his son Jesus Christ.

Your a plague of hatred and lies. You change scripture at every whim.

You hide things from your former posters, that could greatly deceive them. All witnessed this in July.
No one is blind to this, except you.

This is not all about you and your knowledge to you.
To us, is about the about the way to prepare for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

To know His doctrine and Holy ordinances, which we are told to know.

Luk 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Your vile and hurtful, you want to blind like a cobra spitting venom into the eyes. You come to sting someone here to paralyze them,
that they should join you in your snare.

your leavened by a doctrine of man. You point to yourself and of your election, We point to Jesus Christ.

It does not say to feed my serpents and scorpions. It does not say to stay around for the plagues. The doctrine of Jesus Christ said,
    to follow Him.

Jud_1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

So It is to contend for the faith. And anyone who will Listen should do the same.
To us, your only contending for pete.
